The Broken Arrow Community Playhouse is proud to present And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank November 6-8, and 13-15, 2020. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM, Sundays at 2:00 PM at the Playhouse located at 1800 S. Main Street in Broken Arrow.

And Then They Came For Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank by James Still is a multimedia play that combines video interviews with Holocaust survivors Ed Silverberg and Eva Schloss with live actors recreating scenes from their lives during World War II. Part oral history, part dramatic action, part direct address and part remembrance, this innovative, ensemble-driven drama has been acclaimed by audiences and critics in world-wide productions. This year, 2020, is the 75th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. It is also special due to two additional related anniversaries: The 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Stockholm Declaration, under which the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance, and Research was established, known today as the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance;) and the 15th anniversary of the adoption of January 27 as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day by the United Nations General Assembly. Both events symbolically took place on January 27, on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. The story is told largely through the eyes of “Ed,” Anne Frank's first boyfriend, of whom she wrote in the beginning of her now-famous diary; and Eva Schloss, who was the same age as Anne Frank and who lived in the same apartment building in Amsterdam. Her family went into hiding the same day as the Frank family – and like the Frank family, they were betrayed. This production touches not only on the atrocities of the past, but serves as a warning to all future generations of what happens when hate and violence becomes normalized.

We are pleased to welcome back Vern Stefanic, long-time Tulsa area director, playwright and more recently film maker to direct this unique theatrical experience. He has chosen a spectacular cast to bring this touching drama to life. The cast includes Audie Pritchett, Tricia Pruitt, Ryan Mash, Yashia Puckett, McKenzie Smith, Eric Landin, Sidney Rick, Jeffery Jimenez and Malorie Williams. We sincerely hope that all our actors will be available for these new show dates. Due to the change in dates changes in the cast may be necessary.

More information for this production can be obtained by calling the BACP at 918-258-0077. The BACP is located in The Main Place at 1800 S. Main in downtown Broken Arrow. And Then They Came For Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank is produced by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock, Illinois.
